Meet Our Team in Groveport

Dr. Jennifer Steelesmith grew up in the south towns of Buffalo, NY. Liking animals from a young age, she decided to pursue a career in veterinary medicine after volunteering at several local veterinary clinics. Dr. Jenny graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2010. She enjoys getting to know clients and helping them to take the best possible care of their pets. Dr. Jenny and her husband have two children, Ethan and Abby, and a dog named Ruger.

Dr. Allison Graduated Capital University with a Bachelor’s in Chemistry, then went on to earn her DVM at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2007. Dr. Allison was an active member of Omega Tau Sigma, a veterinary social fraternity. Following graduation, Dr. Allison has spent her career working in companion animal exclusive medicine in Fairfield County. Dr. Allison has a strong interest in Internal Medicine and Feline medicine professionally, along with running and spending time with her family outside of work.

Dr. Rebecca Land was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. She is the daughter of doctors Rona Shapiro and Alec Land. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Dayton and graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Land has a passion for fostering the human-animal bond and enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine.

In her time away from the hospital, Dr. Land enjoys reading, writing, and spending time with her friends, family, and yellow lab named Theodore.

Christina loves working in the veterinary field and it shows in everything she does. She has worked for Dr. Shapiro for 14 years and has been manager of the Groveport office for 11 years. Christina earned her Bachelor Degree in Biology from the Ohio State University in 2002. She then went on to further her education and graduated from the Veterinary Technician program at Columbus State Community College in September 2010. Christina has adopted 2 dogs, Ella a feisty Shiba Inu mix, and Teacup a sweet older Bichon. She also has a wonderful cat, Chess.

June Spires is a 2008 graduate from Columbus State Community College with an associates degree in Veterinary Technology. She worked as a registered veterinary technician for 15 years in a general practice clinic before joining the team at Groveport Canal Animal Hospital.  Her special interests in veterinary medicine include anesthesia, dentistry and surgical procedures. In her free time she enjoys working on her farm, breeding and raising show pigs.  She also enjoys traveling as much as possible with her fiancé, Anthony. As a previous 4-H member, she continues to stay active in her 4-H community, volunteering as a 4-H club advisor and is an assistant swine superintendent for her local county fair.

Everyone loves Sheryl’s friendly and caring personality! Sheryl has worked for Dr. Land and Dr. Shapiro for over 24 years and has developed many deep friendships with our clients through the years. She has been both a veterinary assistant and kennel manager and has loved her job since day one! Sheryl currently has a dog, Kiefer, and four cats: Vinny, Joey, Chewy and Slick. She enjoys horseback riding, watching bull riding and rodeo, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Becky Lowe is a recent graduate from The Vet Tech Institute at Bradford School. She grew up in the small town of Cambridge, Ohio. Becky is the proud parent of 2 beautiful dogs (Shelby and Saleen), 5 ornery cats (Luna, Angel, Achilles, Jigsaw and Ava), and 2 gorgeous step daughters. In her free time, you can find her writing music on her acoustic guitar and singing her heart out. She also enjoys crafts and animal photography. Her favorite past time is lounging around cuddling with her many critters.
