Pet Boarding in Groveport: Dog walking on brick road

Pet Boarding in Groveport

Whether you have to leave your pet temporarily due to a family emergency or last-minute business trip, we’re happy to be their second home while you’re away. At Groveport Canal Animal Hospital, we’ll give your pet all the care and comfort they deserve. Our facility is clean and well-equipped with all the necessary amenities to ensure your pet has what they need. Our cross-trained staff members will give your animal companion plenty of love and attention to make them feel welcome.

Health and Safety

For their safety, your pet must be up-to-date on all their required vaccinations and free of any external or internal parasites. If your pet has not been vaccinated or tested for parasites within the year, you can either schedule their vaccinations ahead of their boarding date, or we can update these and their parasite testing at drop-off. If your pet is not a patient at our hospital and is current on their vaccinations and testing, please provide the necessary paperwork at drop-off.

Canine Influenza

One of the vaccines we require for boarding dogs is the canine influenza vaccine. Canine influenza (CIV) is extremely contagious, especially when dogs are in close quarters. Symptoms of this virus include chronic coughing, fever, lethargy, and discharge from the eyes and nose. Some carriers of the virus may not show clinical signs. For full protection, we vaccinate against both CIV strains, H3N8 and H3N2. Call to have your dog vaccinated as soon as possible.

Boarding Amenities

We’re more than happy to provide your pet with a healthy diet and clean, soft bedding, but we recommend bringing some of their things from home. Boarding, especially for the first time, can be stressful for your loved one, and having items that smell like home will give them comfort. Please bring the following:

  • Plenty of food for their stay, along with instructions for feeding times and amounts
  • Bedding/blankets that smell of home
  • Their favorite toy
  • Medications, if they take them—make sure they’re in clearly labeled containers with sufficient instructions

All bags and containers from home must be labeled with your pet’s name and your last name. At drop-off time, be sure to alert our staff members to any special instructions, and provide us with emergency contact information.
